Privacy Policy
How STEM4U handles your and your child's information.
Effective: August 5, 2026
Because STEM4U works with children under 13, we follow COPPA — we collect a child's information only from a parent or guardian, or with verifiable parental consent. This page explains how STEM4U collects, uses, and protects information through our website, registration, and programs. Questions? Email
contact@stem4u.com.
What we collect
- From parents/guardians: name, contact details, payment info, and account details.
- About students: name, age/grade, health and allergy info, emergency contacts, attendance, and progress.
- Automatically: basic website usage and cookies.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
- We collect a child's information only from a parent/guardian or with verifiable parental consent.
- We collect only what's needed to run programs and keep children safe.
- Parents may review their child's info, request deletion, and refuse further collection — though that may prevent participation.
How we use it
- To register students, run programs, process payments, communicate, and provide for health and safety.
- To improve programs and, if you opt in, send updates and marketing (unsubscribe anytime).
How we share it
- With service providers who help us operate (e.g., our registration/payment platform), under agreements limiting their use.
- With FIRST or competition organizers only as needed to compete, with your consent.
- When required by law, or to protect a child's or others' safety.
- We do not sell children's or families' personal information.
Security, retention & your choices
We use reasonable safeguards and keep information only as long as needed or required by law. To review, correct, or delete information or withdraw consent, contact contact@stem4u.com.
Text messages (SMS)
If you give us a mobile number and opt in, we may text you about your child's participation, schedules, and program updates, and — only if you separately opt in — occasional STEM4U news. Consent to texts is not required to enroll. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help; message and data rates may apply. We don't share your mobile number with third parties for their marketing.
Online learning platform
If your child uses our learning site (learn.stem4u.com), they sign in with a class code, first name, and PIN — no email — and may save the coding projects they build. Access is protected by login and we don't make student work public. Parents may ask us to delete a child's saved work at any time.
Virginia residents
Under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, you may access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal data, and appeal a decision we make about such a request. We don't sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@stem4u.com.
Changes
We may update this Policy and will post a new effective date; changes affecting children's information follow COPPA.
